Mariette Teugels is an exceptional portraitist. She has mould life size busts as well as complete figures. Striking busts include author Rose Gronon, poet Jozef De Belder and professor-doctor Paul Janssen, founder of Janssen Pharmaceutical. Animated expressions, a perfect resemblance, lively traits by which the person’s psyche is probed – there are the characteristics of a classic sculptor.
